I don’t know about you, but I’m always impressed by the builders of yesteryear. For me, there was a real quest for beauty in every sense of the word. By that, I mean that beauty was understood in the purely aesthetic sense, but also in the quality of the materials and the workmanship. It’s not unusual for buildings that were built decades or even over a century ago to stand the test of time better than more recent constructions.
Château la Beaumetane was not always a reception venue with cachet. Originally, this magnificent residence was simply a superb family home. You can find out more about the origins of the château in this article.
It’s clear that its patron, Edmond Théry, loved the house very much. What’s more, he was a man who, from what I’ve read about him, was clearly meticulous and loved a job well done. So I have no doubt that when he chose the craftsmen to work on the construction of what was to become a stylish reception venue many years later!
Little details about La Beaumetane…
I’m not going to be able to include everything in this article, but here are a few examples of why people say that La Beaumetane is a reception venue with character.
First of all, of course, the most obvious is its conservatory. The conservatory was built between 1900 and 1901, which are the dates indicated at the top. We finished renovating it by a master craftsman in 2020. It took us four years to do it…. However, it’s OK, we can take a breather in the family. Renovation is due to take place every 100 years! So it’ll be our grandchildren’s or even great-grandchildren’s turn to take care of it!
You also have the magnificent cement tiles, which are all original. Of course, some of them are broken, cracked or stained. But I never wanted to get rid of them! I’ve just made them safe so that nobody gets hurt.
Mouldings, stucco…. We have different styles and sizes in different parts of La Beaumetane. It’s amazing what they can add to the elegance of the château!
Fireplaces…. Each room has its own fireplace. They are all original and all different. Don’t you just love them?
Well, for today, I’ll show you more some other time,…. So, yes, you’ll say, it would be so much simpler not to have a wooden floor when hosting events. Of course it would !!!! But La Beaumetane wouldn’t be this stylish venue without its beautiful original parquet floor! (And it’s great for dancing too 😊 ).
